[FRAMED]:Andrew Schlussel, Director, Global Talent Development
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
I may have a Framestore pen at home…
We won’t tell anyone… What was your last brush with greatness?
I had dinner with Terry Gilliam, one of my all time favourite directors.
VERY jealous… Your worst character fault?
I get excited about good ideas and new projects and take on too much.
Your most shining quality?
Fostering creativity.
You’re on the lam, where are you headed?
Why would I put that in writing?
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
You don’t know him but we’ve agreed that if we ever had a body to bury that we’d help each other out.
Fantasy cellmate?
Andy Dufresne
Great choice. Your greatest achievement?
My children
Go on, share a humblebrag:
Every Sunday I go to Hampstead Heath Men’s Pond and swim for ten minutes in 6°C water.
That’s dedication. Pet peeve?
People throwing rubbish on the ground or in the wrong bins.
Vice?
Acting badly
The DREAM project would entail:
A project that lifts, educates, and entertains the largest number of people.
Your career highlight to date:
The Valerie Charlton event: most well attended internal event in London to date. Check it out
This week I learnt that:
The process is more important than the product.
What’s your current view?
I’m surrounded by brilliant artists and lovely people who like to close the blinds I’m next to, blocking an otherwise nice view.
Give us a desk tour:
On my left monitor it shows what is being presented in the training room and the headphones on my desk have the audio from that room. If you ever feel like you’re being watched in there, you probably are.
We’ve been warned! What do you need to work, on the daily?
I need to move my body, can’t sit still for too long.
Best thing about your work environment?
The people… or maybe the training room.
Framestore is great at:
Attracting amazing talent and giving them the trust and support they need to perform brilliantly.
Fictional character you’d like to hang with?
Zaphod Beeblebrox
Happiness looks like:
Lying flat on the ground looking up at a tree with loved ones nearby.
If not here, then where?
If not now, then when? If not you, then who?
What do you think of too often?
Probably shouldn’t say in this forum
And not enough?
What was the question?
Couldn’t live without:
An atmosphere
If you ruled the world:
Judging by my performance in the game Civilization: total global dominance with liberal use of nuclear devastation.
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Inspiration, Kindness, Ambitious
Andrew Schlussel, you’ve been [FRAMED].
