[FRAMED]: Camille Paleni, Compositor, MTL
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
Watching too many true crime documentaries.
What was your last brush with danger?
Swimming with shark whales in the middle of the ocean! I know they are inoffensive but trust me, if you’ve been traumatised by ‘Jaws’ when you were a kid, this is dangerous!
Your last brush with greatness?
Got out of Montreal and spent a day in a spa, surrounded by nature.
Your worst character fault?
I can be resentful. Working on it!
Your most shining quality?
People say I’m cool and I try to believe them :)
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
My childhood best friend Nira.
Fantasy cellmate?
Christopher Nolan.
Your greatest achievement?
Just bought my first ever apartment and it is beautiful!
Most valuable skill?
Baking fancy pastries.
Go on, say something bragging:
I once got invited to the “I love you Philip Morris” premiere in Paris. I got to watch the film with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor sitting just two rows in front of me. They were joking and laughing all along like if that was their first time watching it.
Name your vice/pet peeve?
People who chew the string from their hoodie.
The DREAM project would entail:
A sci-fi film directed by David Fincher. Where do I sign up!?
Your career highlight to date:
Working on the Academy Award-winning film Ex Machina.
What’s your current view?
I can see plants, trees and my terrasse through the backdoor.
Give us a desk tour:
I have my baby Groot funko pop that I got when I left Framestore’s office in London, a super uncomfortable chair, a Macbook that might die soon and a few plants.
What do you need to work, on the daily?
Coffee and laughter.
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
People, talent and opportunities.
Best thing about your work environment?
I have a window with a view on trees. I can hear the birds chirping and the wind blowing. And light, lots of lights! Who said compers needed to be in the dark ;)
Framestore is great at:
Taking care of its people.
Favourite artform?
Music.
Favourite image?
I rencently discovered the artist Chris Rivers. He makes amazing, huge paintings. I love this one called “Spaceman shot by Cherubs”.
Fictional character you’d like to hang with?
The whole cast from That ‘70s Show.
Happiness looks like:
Me and my best friends on a beach, toes in the sand and a passion fruit Mojito in my hand.
If not here, then where?
South-West of France.
What do you think of too often?
Work.
And not enough?
Myself.
Couldn’t live without:
Fun.
If you ruled the world:
I would establish a four-day work week rule.
