[FRAMED]: Carlos Muñoz, Head of Environments; Film, Montreal
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
Relying on spell checkers to fix my mistakes
What was your last brush with danger?
Every day of winter walking on the icy Montréal streets. I stopped counting after the fifth fall.
Your last brush with greatness?
Eating lunch at the table next to Robert Redford at Skywalker Ranch (and not staring to see what he was eating)
Your worst character fault?
When I’ve lost something, I can’t stop searching until I find it. Even if it means searching for the lost object until 2 am.
Your most shining quality?
I am decisive
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
Keeping this to myself, in case I have to go there
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
My wife, Isa. We’ve known each other since we were teenagers. Together we have an amazing 2 year old daughter, Paloma and the true boss of the house, our 9 year old Yorkie, Coffee.
Fantasy cellmate?
Anyone who’s ever broken out of jail in real or pretend life.
Your greatest achievement?
Keeping my 2 year old alive and in one piece, so far.
Most valuable skill?
I can wiggle my right ear
Go on, say something bragging:
I make a mean paella valenciana
Name your vice/pet peeve?
Vice: Watching competitive cooking shows, while cooking.
Pet peeve: indecision, I don’t think I like it
The DREAM project would entail:
A stop-motion animated film with miniature practical sets
Your career highlight to date:
Being in a position to help shape Framestore’s Environment department and oversee an amazing, talented team.
This week I learnt that:
If you heat up a magnet, it will lose its magnetism
What’s your current view?
A brick wall
Give us a desk tour
A stuffed squirrel holding a neon pink electric guitar who may or may not have been smuggled into the country. His name is Axel Rose. That’s the only thing on my desk. Axel and I travel light in case we need to make a quick getaway.
What do you need to work, on the daily?
My phone. It’s an ongoing conflict between the convenience of being able to communicate all the time and the curse of being available to communicate all the time.
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Passion, determination, artistry
Best thing about your work environment?
The well of ideas, inspiration and humor is never dry.
Framestore is great at:
Being a melting pot of ideas and collaboration in the pursuit of the best imagery
Favourite artform?
BBQ, it’s an art
Favourite image?
Any dog catching balls underwater

Watching my daughter discover all the little things in life with such great enthusiasm.
If not here, then where?
A small and remote Island somewhere in the Caribbean
What do you think of too often?
Bacon
And not enough?
Bacon
Couldn’t live without:
Bacon
If you ruled the world:
I’d free all my sons 🙌
