[FRAMED]:Gabriel Jalbert, Line Producer, MTL
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
I adore witty, cringe-worthy dad jokes and puns. And I say this with pride.
What was your last brush with danger?
Lately? Taking the subway.
Your last brush with greatness?
Greatness is a tiny word to describe the incredible teamwork and stunning pictures achieved on The Aeronauts film.
Your worst character fault?
I can be very stubborn, to a fault.
Your most shining quality?
Besides my lovely shiny head, I like to think I can put a smile on people’s faces.
If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?
I’d be a Caribbean all-inclusive resorts tester.
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
Alaska. I’d take the longest, most scenic route to get there ❄️
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
My friend Jack Crocker, who is also part of the production team.
Fantasy cellmate?
Forget my life sentence…are cats allowed?
Most valuable skill?
I make a pretty killer banana bread.
Go on, say something bragging:
There’s only one thing that can top my banana bread, and that’d be my ping pong skills.
Name your vice?
I can butcher lyrics whilst singing at the top of my lungs with absolute confidence, to everyone’s annoyance. 😏
The DREAM project would entail:
Lots of laughs, some banter amongst teammates, and hard work to keep it challenging.
Your career highlight to date:
Working with a tightly-nit, insanely talented crew to help our friends and colleagues across the Atlantic deliver Thor: Ragnarok. Fun movie too.
This week I learnt that:
You don’t need pants to work from home. 🤭
What’s your office view?
The beautiful view towards East of the island, a nunnery, and if you’re lucky, a nun. They’re famous.
Give us a desk tour:
At the office, I’ve got a fern and a cactus to ‘keep it green’, and a box full of empty Framestore mint tins that will one day turn into a mural.
What do you need to work, on the daily?
Coffee x2, a good laugh, and a chill work environment.
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Community, laughs, talent.
Best thing about your work environment?
The people. They’re the source of the mutual respect, talent, and team spirit found within these walls.
Framestore is great at:
Regrouping great, creative minds, and somehow, still managing to make it all relevant on the big scale. 👏
Favourite art form?
Music for both rainy and sunny days.
Favourite image?
The famous picture of workers eating their lunch — at 800 feet up in the sky. It’s total madness.
Fictional character you’d like to hang with?
I’d love to hang out with Jake Peralta from Brooklyn Nine-Nine to solve a crime, or chill with the Scooby-gang from Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Happiness looks like:
Keeping your feet on the ground, with a bag of Skittles.
If not here, then where?
The Algarve in Portugal, with a bag of Skittles.
What do you think of too often?
What should I have for dinner tonight? That usually starts at around 10am.
And not enough?
A reason to celebrate.
If you ruled the world:
That sounds like a bit too much work, but here we go : I’d make dad jokes a respected, honorable art form. Travelling and exploring the world would be a mandatory course in College. And I should probably mention world peace, right?
Gabriel Jalbert, you’ve been [FRAMED].
