[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

What are you guilty of?

Wasting my time watching satisfying videos on Instagram.

What was your last brush with danger?

Getting into skateboarding at 40.

Your last brush with greatness?

Stopped drinking coffee and started online Yoga lessons.

Your worst character fault?

Tendency to have a short fuse.

If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?

I would be a biologist or a chef.

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

Somewhere warm and cosy on Corsica island.

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

Too many to name them.

What’s your favourite movie?

I love Nightcrawler.

Your greatest achievement?

I was quite proud when one of my short films got selected to the Venice International Film Festival.

Most valuable skill?

A must in the industry: having a good eye… I’m also not bad at ping pong.

Go on, brag about something:

I’ve recently obtained my British citizenship!

Name your vice/pet peeve?

My contrariness.

The DREAM project would entail:

Perhaps doing interesting directing stuff with Framestore Pictures.

Your career highlight to date:

As a supervisor: the latest Bond title sequence.

This week I learnt that:

Clive Owen doesn’t look like Bill Clinton.

What’s your current view?

Foreground: an olive tree on my balcony, Mid-ground: an ugly estate tower, Background: towers of the city.

Give us a desk tour:

Pretty standard stuff: a mouse and a keyboard.

What do you need to work, on the daily?

A good sourdough bread for the toasts.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Artists, family, versatility.

Best thing about your work environment? (at home!)

Good and bad: the fridge is really close.

Framestore is great at:

Giving trust.

Favourite art form?

Cinema!

Favourite image?

Got a nice printed photo from Nick Turpin for my birthday.

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Marty McFly.

Happiness looks like:

A good organic wine…

If not here, then where?

In a glass of a good organic wine…

What do you think of too often?

My phone!

And not enough?

My kids!

Couldn’t live without:

A skinny oat decaf flat white?

If you ruled the world:

I would cancel Mondays and perhaps mornings too.

How are you staying inspired by working remotely?

Thinking we are lucky to be healthy.

How are you spending your weekends?

I had the chance to be in the countryside for a while so I’ve been into the woods. I also learnt how to make fresh pasta…

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about yourself during quarantine?

Never say: I quitted smoking.

Jules Janaud, you’ve been [FRAMED].
