[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

What are you guilty of?

Eating cheesecake or pie on a regular basis.

What was your last brush with danger?

I solo hiked and got lost on the trail. A random bright orange scarf tied to a tree where I started off saved my life!

Your last brush with greatness?

My last batch of energy bars was on point.

Your worst character fault?

I always ask too many questions.

If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?

I probably would be running a goat farm with a bunch of cats. They are the top animals in the animal kingdom.

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

Unsurvivable extreme environments I’ve seen in National Geographic.

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

Whoever I meet on Saturday lunchtime. It could be you..!

What’s your favourite movie/TV show and why?

The Midnight Gospel.

Your greatest achievement?

I made a video game player log out from a game after making some clever moves.

Most valuable skill?

I am surprisingly good at making my own cheesecake.

Go on, say something bragging:

My cat is — sorry pet owners — the cutest, ugliest, and craziest. She is perfect.

Name your vice/pet peeve?

A mysterious gentleman always hoovers his car in front of my apartment at 11pm and plays extremely annoying but also catchy songs that get stuck in my head.

The DREAM project would entail:

A job that includes big, angry, hairless, and mean creatures.

Your career highlight to date:

I’ve worked on the famous Geico Gecko. It also haunts me everywhere I go…

This week I learnt that:

The full wingspan of an albatross is almost two times of my height.

What’s your current view?

I’m in my room with a window full of plants. I have a dual monitor, a coyote skull, and my cat on my lap. I have a box of unopened sweets to my left.

Give us a desk tour!

Plants, screaming goat toy (used to be a panic button when i was working at the office) and regular office stuff.

What do you need to work on the daily?

I usually stare at the Maya window on my screen that has a freshly imported asset and move it around a lot. After a while, I realise that I have so many things on my to do list and start rigging.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Cheese, coffee, quest!

Best thing about your work environment?

WFH scenario: My little fury assistant.
In the NY office: The mighty espresso machine.

Framestore is great at:

It’s a great place to meet talented industry professionals. I’m glad I joined the studio.

Favourite artform?

Anything but NFT.

Favourite image?

A random low res cat photo that’s full of action.

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Doomguy.

Happiness looks like:

Sun, fresh breeze, and an open field with countless leaves.

If not here, then where?

I would like to escape the grey city and countless lights. Maybe go somewhere where I can enjoy my music on a higher volume than 10.

What do you think of too often?

Starting a new personal project while I’m still working on old projects.

And not enough?

How much time and money I spent on unnecessary ideas.

Couldn’t live without:

My cat and cheesecake.

If you ruled the world:

I’d relocate dolphins and whales to their natural habitat.

Minji Sohn, you’ve been [FRAMED].
