[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

Let’s get up close and a little personal:

What are you guilty of?

I have finished a box of popsicles without leaving any for others, multiple times. In one sitting. Help.

What was your last brush with danger?

Completing the McKibbins “Rim Reaper” challenge. 12 wings dipped into 1 million Scoville hot sauce. My stomach still hates me.

Your last brush with greatness?

Attending the Game of Thrones final season premiere at New York’s Radio City Hall. What a crazy trip that was!

Your worst character fault?

I’m a ball of pure sarcasm.

Your most shining quality?

Loyal like a dog.

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

To the White House; apparently you can’t get arrested there.

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

My brother. We have 7 years of difference but you’d think we’re twins.

Fantasy cellmate?

Andy Dufresne, for self-explanatory reasons.

Your greatest achievement?

Becoming a producer in the video game industry has always been a dream of mine. Check!

Most valuable skill?

I can troubleshoot PC hardware with lightning fast efficiency.

Go on, say something bragging:

Hands down, I make the best cheesecake in my neighbourhood.

Name your vice/pet peeve?

I have so many… but i’ll have to go with people who chew loudly.

Your craziest ambition:

Host the greatest party ever on a Palmer Johnson 42M Supersport yacht.

The day job…

The DREAM project would entail:

Working on the next generation video game masterpiece. Something that could be compared to the greatest like Diablo II, Breath of the Wild and Bioshock, to name a few.

Your career highlight to date:

Shipping games with amazing licenses like Game of Thrones.

This week I learnt that:

It’s very difficult to talk about myself.

What’s your current view?

Mont-Royal and a top view of Montreal’s most hipster neighbourhood.

Give us a desk tour [personal items, tools, software]

A pack of Framestore mints, 2 rubber duckies, a compiled list of fortune cookie sayings, a Pop! Figurine of Ghost (GoT #19) and a 3D printed School of the Wolf medallion.

What do you need to work, on the daily?

Caffeine and patience.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Quality, creativity, family.

Best thing about your work environment?

Location, location, location!

Framestore is great at:

Enabling creativity through boundaries-pushing projects.

Name a secret skill you acquired through your job:

Negotiating deals without the other party noticing.

When inspiration strikes:

Favourite artform?

Definitely video games; not only do they combine other art forms, but they’re also stimulating.

Favourite image?

Can’t go wrong with this dramatic display of cat finesse.

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Gandalf. I would listen to his many stories while smoking a pipe.

Happiness looks like:

A bunch of friends around a campfire, a few beers, and playing “Would You Rather” or board games.

If not here, then where?

Mars.

What do you think of too often?

How much better this world could be if we collectively wanted to.

And not enough?

How to reach my full potential.

One thing that inspired you to join the industry:

My first experience working in QA back when I was 16 years old. 17 years ago… ouch!

Do you stream, if so, got a link?

I don’t stream as regularly as I should to ever be relevant on the platform, but you can catch me once in a while at: https://www.twitch.tv/braven8

Couldn’t live without:

Cheese.

If you ruled the world:

I would enforce a resource-based economy, promote unity among ourselves and shift our focus on environment caring high-end technology.

Nathan Pinard, you’ve been [FRAMED].
