[FRAMED]: PJ Stegall, VFX and Immersive Producer
--
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
Watching the 2007 hit series Gossip Girl for the first time in 2020 and absolutely LOVING it.
What was your last brush with greatness?
While out walking in my neighborhood, I quite literally brushed shoulders with Tina Fey. She was too busy wrangling her children to notice that she bumped into me but it was very cool for me!
No doubt that was a comedic sight to see. Your worst character fault?
My perfectionism probably gets on a lot of people’s nerves.
Your most shining quality?
My loyalty to my friends and family, but most importantly, to my favorite sports team (GO VOLS! 🍊).
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
To a hideaway cabin in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee.
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
My boyfriend, Matt — he’s the John Legend to my Chrissy Teigen. :)
Cute! Fantasy cellmate?
Lucille Ball
Your greatest achievement?
Moving to NYC from my hometown. That may not seem like a great achievement to some people, but it was a big deal for this small town, country girl!
Surviving NYC in general is a huge win! Go on, say something bragging:
I’m a pretttty good dancer. Growing up, I trained with a few dance companies for about ~15 years in ballet, tap, jazz, and pointe. And I still try to fit in a hip-hop class when my schedule allows!
We’ll be on the lookout for those moves at the next holiday party! Name your vice?
Animal Crossing.
The DREAM project would entail:
A great team and a healthy schedule.
Your career highlight to date:
Having the opportunity to work on various award-winning projects: Fantastic Beasts VR Experience, Field Trip to Mars, Game of Thrones: The Dead Must Die Magic Leap Experience, just to name a few. 😉
This week I learnt that:
Ergonomic chairs are worth the money.
What’s your current quarantine view?
My cozy living room.
Give us a desk tour [personal items, tools, software]
It’s not so much a desk at the moment as it is my kitchen counter… my laptop and Dell monitor are neighboring a paper towel holder and a bottle of Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap.
What more could you ask for? What do you need to work, on the daily?
A good ol’ cup of joe.
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Inventive, collaborative, talented.
Best thing about your work environment?
All of my wonderful and creative co-workers, who I’m missing dearly during isolation.
Framestore is great at:
Generating work that pushes all boundaries and never ceases to inspire.
Favourite artform?
Musical theatre, dance, and comedy (I can’t choose one!).
Favourite image?
The images from @nasa are truly amazing and out of this world.
Ahh, we see what you did there! Fictional character you’d like to hang with?
Genie from Aladdin.
Happiness looks like:
Weekend walks along the Upper West Side.
If not here, then where?
On a lake in Maine.
What do you think of too often?
Currently, “where am I going to get toilet paper?”
And not enough?
“Everything is going to be okay.”
Couldn’t live without:
Strawberry milkshakes.
If you ruled the world:
Dogs would live forever.
How are you staying inspired by working remotely?
I’ve been trying to keep up some sort of daily routine during the week — waking up at the same time everyday, getting dressed as if I’m going to the office, and having daily morning catch ups with my team definitely helps.
How are you spending your weekends?
Masking up and getting out for socially-distanced walks when I can, as well as taking virtual workout classes. But to be honest…. I’m mostly playing Animal Crossing and watching movies on my couch. 😬
Nothing wrong with that, you do you! What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about yourself during quarantine?
This meme comes to mind.
Include a pic of your work station
PJ Stegall, you’ve been [FRAMED].
