[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

Name: Prince Yaw Yiadom

Job title: Compositor

What are you guilty of?

Always coming across as too laid back.

What was your last brush with danger?

Nearly fell all the way down a manhole in Hanoi, Vietnam. Managed to pull myself out but lost my phone, scarred my leg and nearly lost my camera too. Great trip though. 10/10 would recommend.

Yikes. Your last brush with greatness?

When I met Metal Gear Solid creator, Hideo Kojima, and Yoji Shinakawa, the lead character designer for the series — don’t ask why I’m in a shirt and tie.

Your worst character fault?

My patience.

Your most shining quality?

Also my patience.

You’re on the lam, where are you headed?

Maik’s house.

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

My camera…and Maik.

Love it. And your fantasy cellmate?

Solid Snake

Your greatest achievement?

Making it into the film comp team at Framestore ❤

Most valuable skill?

That I try to remain calm and patient in most situations.

Go on, share a humblebrag:

I got flown out to the games convention E3 in LA to shoot a video!

VERY cool. Name your pet peeve?

People who wait to talk but don’t actually listen.

So tell us, The DREAM project would entail?

Something that allowed me to document and take pictures of people around the world.

Your career highlight to date?

Seeing a film I worked on being shown at an outdoor bar in Ghana with my parents. They came to the UK in the 1980s and it was the first time I had been back there in 12 years. My Mum cried as she saw our family name on screen. Real full circle moment.

What did you learn this week?

That my Uncle wasn’t lying and is actually a sick barber.

What’s your current view?

Go on, give us a tour

My WFH setup: Mavic Pro 2, Nintendo Switch in the background, Seven Star Dragonball, pretty large Zelda: Breath of the Wild figurine, iMac, PS4, ‘This Is Grime’ book written by i-D magazine’s Hattie Collins featuring amazing award-winning photos from Olivia Rose + a bunch of other nerdy items.

What do you need to work, on the daily?

Grime music. It’s my caffeine.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Challenge, creativity, edges

Best thing about your work environment?

Being able to learn from the incredibly smart and talented people around me on a daily basis.

Framestore is great at:

Providing a place to grow, as I started as a runner here.

Favourite artform?

Photography

Favourite image?

I took this photo of sisters I know last November and it’s one of my favourites:

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Rosalind Lutece

Happiness looks like:

Took this during that same trip back to Ghana in 2018 when I visited the school my Dad and Uncle opened up. Always makes me smile.

CUTE! If not here, then where?

Naoshima, Japan

What do you think of too often?

If I’ve accidentally used slang when talking to my supes, or in dailies without noticing.

And not enough?

To just be myself.

Couldn’t live without:

Joloff Rice

If you ruled the world:

You do not want me ruling the world, trust me.

Prince Yaw Yiadom, you’ve been [FRAMED]
