[FRAMED] Producer, Alexandra Roesch, Chicago
Which film or TV series do you wish you could watch again for the first time?
I really wish I could watch Ted Lasso again for the first time. I had my doubts before starting it because I thought it was just a light comedy, but it is so much more. I have already offered to rewatch it with about three other first-timers, just to experience it again! If you haven’t watched it yet… I’ll watch it with you.
Which Framestore character do you feel you’re most like?
Probably Winnie The Pooh! I value optimism, thoughtfulness, and most of all slowing down and taking time to really do nothing and enjoy the peace, while eating a large amount of sweets.
What fictional world or place would you like to visit?
When I was younger I rewatched the 2001 movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire so many times. Maybe it was Milo Thatch’s obsessive enthusiasm, but I felt a strong urge to find the lost city of Atlantis myself.
What’s your favourite project that you worked on at Framestore?
Hands down the Nerds Gummy Clusters “Flashdance” spot that aired during the 2024 Super Bowl! I had the opportunity to attend my first ever shoot in Mexico City and felt very involved and invested in the project from beginning to end. Our insanely talented artists created a new brand character, the very lovable Gummy Monster, for the Nerds candy. As a side note, if you haven’t tried this candy yet, run to the store.
If you hadn’t gotten into producing, what would you be doing now?
I might have taken an interest in event planning. I jump at any chance to plan and organize fun themed events, whether I’m at work or with friends. My friends and I host a monthly themed dinner party and it is always the highlight of my month! My favorite theme I’ve done was a Practical Magic watch party with candle making and midnight margaritas.
The DREAM project would entail:
Anything with an adorable character and an enthusiastic team.
How would you describe your job to a child?
I make a long and detailed plan and read the instructions to a team of people. Everyday, I make sure that my team is following the instructions and that my plan is working. After a few months, my plan is over and everybody celebrates!
Describe your career journey into the exciting world of VFX.
I graduated from college with a lengthy degree; Radio, Television, and Digital Media with a specialization in Video Production. After college, I started at Framestore Chicago as a Receptionist. I spent a really great couple of years getting to know the staff and the company very well. After some exploration and various training sessions, I decided to join the Production team as a Coordinator in 2020. Fast forward four very enlightening years and I am now a VFX Producer!
Describe a day in the life of a Producer in emojis:

Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Imaginative, Inventive, and Scrappy.
What is the biggest perk about working at Framestore?
The people! I have made so many close and important relationships, both friendships and mentors, during my time at Framestore that have changed my life and career. I have also gotten the opportunity to meet and work with so many talented individuals who have taken the time to teach me the ins and outs of an industry I wasn’t super familiar with. Framestore has a knack for hiring the coolest people, in my totally unbiased opinion.
Framestore is great at:
Manufacturing a collaborative and supportive environment.
Favourite artform?
Literature. I find it so fascinating how many different worlds live inside of novels. There are endless stories dreamt up and imagined, described in such beautiful detail. I also love how unique every author’s voice is.
Favourite image?
I took this photo at the Trinity College Library in Dublin on a trip with my dad. It was a big bucket list item for me and makes a beautiful lock screen!
What’s your favourite movie/ series/ advert/ immersive experience and why?
My favorite type of movies or series are the ones that are adapted from books because one of my favorite activities is to read a novel and then go and watch the film that was created based on that novel and then compare the two. My guess is that this habit came from the many, many English courses I took during college. A couple of examples of this would be Tiny Beautiful Things and Wild.
What is the last piece of art that inspired you?
“Peaceful Place” by Leon Bridges.
How do you unlock your creativity?
I need to slow down and feel quiet to unlock my creativity. If things are busy and moving too fast or getting chaotic then I don’t feel I have enough mental space to tap into my creative side.
From where do you seek inspiration?
I seek inspiration from my friends and family. I am surrounded by many creative, passionate, and ambitious people. I believe that having this type of energy present in your life is the easiest source of inspiration. Sort of ‘you are what you eat’ for the brain.
Who in the industry do you admire most and why?
I admire the people behind the curtains (or behind the heavy doors hiding all the scary machines) the most. The people keeping the lights on and the computers running - our Systems and Data Teams. I know how impactful these departments are and I can only imagine the technical knowledge required to keep things running. Truly admirable to me.
Share the best piece of advice you’ve ever received:
Let them. Book & Podcast by Mel Robbins where she emphasizes the importance of letting others be who they are, accepting situations as they unfold, and redirecting focus to what’s within your power.
What tech/innovation could you not live without?
Search engines!
What tech/innovation deserves the hype?
Streaming services are very well used in my house and I think they deserve all the hype. I don’t know where I’d be without the ability to binge watch New Girl for the 20th time.
What tech do you need that hasn’t been invented yet?
I need something to be invented that will put my duvet cover on my comforter without me having to crawl inside of it and get lost.
