Your career highlight to date:
Joining Framestore and stepping up as a Roto Lead has been my proudest career moment so far.
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in VFX?
A school trip to EsselWorld (theme park) sparked my curiosity — one look at the VFX and animation posters, and I was hooked. What began as a moment of wonder soon became the starting point of my journey into the world of visual effects.
The DREAM project would entail:
Batman!
How do you explain what you do to someone who doesn’t work in VFX?
It started with ‘I make cartoons,’ then became ‘I do VFX’ — and I’m still perfecting my answer depending on who’s asking.
Describe your career journey into the exciting world of VFX.
My journey into the world of VFX began at Trace VFX, where I built a strong foundation in the craft. I then moved on to join the core team at Method, which gave me the opportunity to deepen my skills and work on larger-scale projects. After that, I continued to grow professionally at Anibrain, gaining exposure to a diverse range of creative challenges. Each step has shaped my path, and today, I’m proud to be part of this ever-evolving industry at Framestore, contributing to the magic of visual storytelling.
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Creativity, Quality and Good Work Culture.
Favorite artform?
Photography is my go-to artform — there’s something magical about capturing a moment that speaks without words.
Favorite image?
Kumbharwada pottery art.
Another one of my all-time favourite images is a picture of the sunset taken by me!
What’s your favourite movie/ series/ advert/ immersive experience and why?
As a huge fan of Batman, it has to be Gotham.
I love how Gotham captures the gritty, complex nature of the city and sets the stage for the rise of one of the most legendary superheroes. It’s a perfect blend of crime, mystery, and mythology that keeps me hooked every time.
What tech/innovation could you not live without?
Definitely my mobile — it’s my go-to for everything and anything!
Kushal Lad, you’ve been [FRAMED].
