[FRAMED]: Samantha Wong, Producer, CHI
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
I’m guilty of constantly over-committing myself. I just want to do all the things all the time!
What was your last brush with danger?
Booking a flight for 9am on New Year's Day AND deciding to go to a New Year's Eve party the night before — very dangerous.
Your worst character fault?
I’m incredibly nosy. I need all the gossip.
If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?
I very nearly started down a path toward a career in higher education, specifically College Admissions Advising.
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
Probably to the beach — If I’m going to be arrested, I may as well be relaxed when it happens.
Fantasy cellmate?
Someone funny — maybe Tig Notaro?
Your greatest achievement?
I’ve never broken a bone or been seriously injured. Given how often I fall over, that’s a pretty huge achievement.
Go on, say something bragging:
My grandma says I’m the smartest person she’s ever met. Don’t tell my cousins.
Name your vice/pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is people who don’t read emails all the way through and then proceed to aggressively draw incorrect conclusions.
Your career highlight to date:
I did some work for the show Work In Progress on Showtime. I think that’s the best project I’ve ever worked on, both because it was incredibly fun to work on but also because it was a really excellent show.
Give us a desk tour.
There’s frequently a cat on my desk, usually right on top of my to do list.
What do you need to work, on the daily?
This is cliche and boring, but I need coffee in order to work — I don’t function without it.
Best thing about your work environment?
The people! Framestore’s Chicago studio has the best team!
Favourite artform?
Cooking — beautiful, creative and delicious!
Favourite image?
Fictional character you’d like to hang with?
The Genie from Aladdin seems like a party!
What do you think of too often?
Every embarrassing thing I’ve ever said/done.
And not enough?
The things that need to be done around my house.
Couldn’t live without:
Music.
If you ruled the world:
We’d all be in a fair bit of trouble.
Samantha Wong, you’ve been [FRAMED].
