What are you guilty of?
Eating too many Pringles.
What was your last brush with danger?
A weekend attempt at a bit of tree surgery. Without a hard hat.
Your last brush with greatness?
Lunch with Karen Chapman the other week!
Your worst character fault?
Procrastination.
If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?
Definitely working with fabric in some way — stitching, printing, pattern cutting, sewing, dressmaking…?
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
Into the setting sun.
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
Right now — my rescue dog, Hattie.
Fantasy cellmate?
Lassie — he’ll get us out, right?
Your greatest achievement?
Making it to 50; 12 years after an aggressive cancer diagnosis & successful treatment.
Most valuable skill?
Enjoying each day as it comes. Finding joy in the details.

I once spent a surreal afternoon/ night in Billy Bob Thornton’s mansion in Beverly Hills playing pool and listening to Christmas songs on his Wurlitzer Jukebox.

Your career highlight to date:
Hmm, a very close call between Nathan Barley DVD packaging and the phenomenal response to Libresse #Wombstories.

What is your current view?
My home studio space: a very cluttered work table, my record collection, a Vic Reeves painting of Mark E. Smith, a treadle Singer sewing machine recently gifted to me by a neighbour, and all the boxes of music and craft supplies I’m yet to unpack.
Give us a desk tour:
My work Mac laptop and Cintiq for photoshop/ illustrator/ AFX, a note/sketchbook and pen, a pile of house admin, dog treats, nose and paw balm, hand cream, Extras chewing gum, a cup of rooibos tea, and my waste paper bin to stop Hattie riffling through and shredding the contents whenever I’m on a work call. This isn’t even the cluttered work table mentioned above!
What do you need for work, on the daily?
A good walk before I start, whatever the weather, and a strong black coffee to get me out of bed in the first place.
Best thing about your work environment?
Space to think, all day dog company and the washing basket no longer overflows!

Favourite image?
This changes all the time! From paintings to photographs, to record sleeves, places and situations. Can’t go wrong with anything by Edouard Vuillard, Toulouse Lautrec, or Tish Murtha. Seeing my rescue dog bloom from a traumatised, mistreated and shut down ball of fear into a happy, mischievous and confident soul is a good daily image at the moment.

Happiness looks like:
An early morning beach walk in sunny Margate with no agenda for the day.

Scotland.

That I’m a natural hermit and was born for lockdown!
