[FRAMED]: Sophie Burke, Production Coordinator, MTL
[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].
What are you guilty of?
Drinking too much coffee and being shocked that I don’t get enough sleep.
What was your last brush with danger?
Going outdoors in the past two years.
Your last brush with greatness?
I got to see my Mum in December, the woman is the definition of Great.
Your worst character fault?
I am a terrible interrupter and talk far too much, but I am hopeful that acceptance is the first step to recovery.
If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?
I would have loved to have been a make up artist and hair stylist! On the other end of the spectrum, I wish I had studied politics in University.
You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?
I am not sure I could hack the stress of being on the run, I would probably just do the time.
Who’s your partner-in-crime?
My friend Nikki Braine, I would be a shell of a woman without her.
What’s your favourite movie/TV show and why?
ER will always be number one, but second place is a toss up between Succession and Bake Off. Succession because they are all terrible people and Bake Off because they are all lovely.
Your greatest achievement?
The friendships I have made and kept, I have the best friends out there.
Most valuable skill?
Speaking Irish — it’s great to speak a secret language with your friends that no one understands.
Go on, say something bragging:
I have an excellent memory, it’s both a blessing and a curse.
Name your vice/pet peeve?
The DREAM project would entail:
I am still getting used to working on projects having just recently moved to production from being a DM but I would say an open dialogue in the team and loads and loads of time.
Your career highlight to date:
Being supported and encouraged by my managers to train in a new department and change positions during work from home!
This week I learnt that:
You can’t hum while holding your nose — Thanks Freddie.
What’s your current view?
My fridge and my very messy kitchen island.
Give us a desk tour!
Framestore Laptop and Monitor, a cup of tea, sticky notes, pens and mini dog teddy that my sister Emma crocheted for me.
What do you need to work, on the daily?
Coffee and communication!
Framestore is, to you, in three words:
Opportunity, support, educational.
Best thing about your work environment?
Being sat beside the radiator while its -15 and snowing outside.
Framestore is great at:
Encouraging talent and providing opportunities for growth.
Ordinarily I would put a photo of my family all together but I don’t think the would ever forgive me so we’ll have to settle for Bernie.
Fictional character you’d like to hang with?
Happiness looks like:
A glass of fizz, fresh air, friends and family.
If not here, then where?
What do you think of too often?
The list is endless but some of the more frequent ones are : Serial Season 1 / how Adnan is doing. Trying to remember my left from my right when taking notes in dailies.
And not enough?
Couldn’t live without:
Tea, dogs and books.
If you ruled the world:
Universal, free education.
Sophie Burke, you’ve been [FRAMED].
