[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

What are you guilty of?

Feeling guilty too easily.

What was your last brush with danger?

Forgetting to sanitise my supermarket delivery before putting it away.

Your last brush with greatness?

Recently getting to work alongside the hugely talented Framestore Art Department.

Your worst character fault?

Currently drowning everyone out on video calls with my loud typing.

If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?

I’d like to think it would be editing, based on no evidence at all that I’d be any good at it.

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

Surely I should keep that secret?

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

My dog, Dunder

Fantasy cellmate?

Dawn French

Your greatest achievement?

Winner of Britain’s Brightest Smile 1987

Most valuable skill?

Being able to look at most things with a glass-half-full attitude.

Go on, say something bragging:

I went to Sporty Spice’s 40th birthday party.

Name your vice?

Cheese, it’s the only thing stopping me going vegan

The DREAM project would entail:

Anything with a fresh creative brief and a client who wants to collaborate with us from the early stages of pre-production. If that could also be in the form of the next classic Christmas movie that becomes everyone’s go-to film each year, I’d be very happy.

Your career highlight to date:

Getting to work closely with Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij on the second season of The OA.

This week I learnt that:

Twitter is not the best place to look for reviews of your recent VFX work.

What’s your current view?

The flats opposite me with a tree full of parakeets in front.

Give us a desk tour

I spend most of my WFH time jammed in between a desk and a wardrobe with piles of notes on one side of me, and snacks on the other.

What do you need to work, on the daily?

One laptop with a second monitor for seeing my spreadsheets in all their glory, and another laptop for video calls.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Welcoming, talented, innovative

Best thing about your work environment? (at home!)?

Having my dog with me, especially as that forces me to get out the house and have a walk each day too.

Framestore is great at:

Encouraging a sense of community across the company

Favourite artform?

Cake decorating

Favourite images?

This week it’s Sheena Liam’s embroidery

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Cece Parekh

Happiness looks like:

Sunny picnics with friends/family

If not here, then where?

New Zealand

What do you think of too often?

Moving back to New Zealand

And not enough?

Ways to give myself downtime

Couldn’t live without:

Salt — figuratively and literally

If you ruled the world:

It would be immediately obvious that I wasn’t the right person for the job

How are you staying inspired by working remotely?

Enforcing a routine on myself that includes some daily exercise, as long as I do that, everything else feels much easier.

How are you spending your weekends?

Taking Dunder to new places to walk and explore

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about yourself during quarantine?

Video calls are no longer a stressful prospect
