[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

What are you guilty of?

I haven’t been to a proper barber in almost 20 years. It probably shows…

What was your last brush with danger?

Went for a sailboat ride in the San Francisco bay on a boat with a poorly patched hole in the hull. We were slowly taking on water the entire trip… but it was “ok”

Your last brush with greatness?

I played “Despacito” with Luis Fonsi on Good Morning America, and then at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Although, like many of these “live” programs, It was a “playback” gig, and the band was just pretending to play along with the recording. It was still a blast though!

Here he is live in action:

Your worst character fault?

Being so easygoing it seems as though I don’t care.

If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?

I might be a full time musician.

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

To be honest, probably to turn myself in. Running from the law never turns out well!

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

Me. Trust No one.

Fantasy cellmate?

Sam Harris. I think I could listen to him talk forever. Although, I would hope I got a reduced sentence for turning myself in.

Your greatest achievement?

Probably being able to pay off my school loans

Most valuable skill?

Positivity.

Go on, say something bragging:

Someone plays me in a movie! In 2014, a TV movie was made about my mother and her efforts to “baking her way out of foreclosure” during the 2008 financial crisis. I’m played by the very talented Stephan James. No, he did NOT have an afro in the movie!

Name your pet peeve?

People who can’t wait their turn when merging two lanes into one. There is a special place in hell for you. Those people probably litter too, my other pet peeve.

The DREAM project would entail:

Probably working on the new Dune… Ok, so I know the David Lynch version wasn’t great, but I have basically been watching it since birth and love it anyway! Fear is the mind killer…

Your career highlight to date:

Still loving what I do!

This week I learnt that:

Dune’s release date was pushed into 2021 :(

What’s your current view?

Current view is out a hotel window in Chicago!

Give us a desk tour:

My desk has… entirely too much stuff! Dual Monitors, Dual Keyboards, dual Wacom tablets, Stereo monitors, audio interfaces. It’s a lot, but… I need every single thing :)

What do you need to work, on the daily?

I didn’t realise how important a good chair was until I didn’t have one. Also, coffee.

Best thing about your work environment?

As soon as I sign off work, I’m home!

Framestore is great at:

Creating a community. Even when people leave Framestore, they still come back for drinks :)

Favourite art form?

Sculpture, because I have no idea how people manage to do such incredible things.

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Rust Cohle, True Detective, Season 1 (The only season that mattered).

Happiness looks like:

If not here, then where?

Spain.

What do you think of too often?

Will it ever be enough?

And not enough?

“This will do”

Couldn’t live without:

Drums.

How are you staying inspired by working remotely?

During the darkest moments of quarantine, a couple of other coworkers and I would join a zoom call together during the day. Sometimes we would talk and sometimes we would silently work. Even if it was silent for extended periods of time, it was nice to know we were there for each other.

How are you spending your weekends?

Generally this is a completely mixed bag. I play drums in a wedding DJ group, and those gigs are slowly starting to return, mostly in outdoor safe settings. Sometimes I’m out with friends riding bikes, having drinks at the park, or salsa dancing with those who are in my “bubble”.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about yourself during quarantine?

I’m a very social person, but I love my alone time.

If you ruled the world:

Certain people wouldn’t be president right now… for starters
