[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

What are you guilty of?

Talking about Dungeons and Dragons WAY too much.

What was your last brush with danger?

I rode my bike to Target and there was a bike lane only like 80% of the way. Paramount just called asking about the story rights to my life.

We’d watch that. Your last brush with greatness?

My favorite plant shop reposted a picture of me in their greenhouse. Mickey Hargitay’s Plants in Hollywood y’all, look ’em up and buy your plants there. This isn’t a paid promotion.

We’re talking to a plant influencer here? Honored! Your worst character fault?

Is this a trap? You a cop? You legally have to tell me if you’re a cop.

Your most shining quality?

All of them?

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

The Appalachian Mountains. That’s where I buried the cash.

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

Any of my other personalities.

Fantasy cellmate?

The Rock. He seems nice and like he could protect me. I don’t think I’d make it on the inside.

Great logic. What’s your favorite movie/TV show and why?

I don’t really have a favorite, but Scott Pilgrim vs The World is up there. Edgar Wright is a fantastic writer and director, and the movie is jam-packed with style. Not to mention some really cool stylized VFX and motion graphics.

Your greatest achievement?

Getting asked to answer these questions.

Most valuable skill?

My green thumb.

Go on, say something bragging:

I have 46 plants and have only killed about four total since I started buying houseplants.

Name your vice/pet peeve?

Biggest pet peeve is when somebody comments on “the green text” when I text them from my Android. Honestly, does it really matter?

The DREAM project would entail:

Title or UI design for a TV show or movie. Ideally one that I’ve directed.

Would it be about plants? Your career highlight to date:

Pretty much anytime somebody tells me I did a good job. I run on compliments.

This week I learnt that:

Norse mythology is weird as all get-out. Just read Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology and those stories get wild. In a good way.

What’s your current quarantine view?

I’m looking out my window working from home, surrounded by my plants. I can see the hills in the distance and the air is so clear I can see the Hollywood sign today. Could be worse.

Livin’ that Hollywood dream. Give us a desk tour:

I keep Escape the Dark Castle on my desk for our weekly board game nights, some vitamins (I always forget to take them at home), my bluetooth Walkman inspired headphones, and as for software, the trusty Adobe suite and C4D.

What do you need to work, on the daily?

Gotta be active before work, have tea and listen to ambient yoga playlists. My fave is ‘Yoga in the Mountains’ which is available on Spotify.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Inclusive, friendly, educational.

Best thing about your work environment?

The people. I genuinely love the people I work with.

Framestore is great at:

Hiring interesting people.

How are you staying inspired by working remotely?

Right now, I’m just grateful to be one of the lucky people still working so inspiration isn’t too hard to come by. Also, I do find I’m more creative around plants. I have a few plants.

How are you spending your weekends during the COVID lockdown?

A loooooooot of Dungeons and Dragons. I run games Friday and Saturday nights. Besides that, I get the house cleaned (and sanitized) and practice some self care.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned about yourself during quarantine?

A positive attitude goes a long way. And so does wearing real pants. Makes work easier when you’re dressed like a grown up.

Include a pic of your work station

Favourite artform?

Dungeons and Dragons.

Favourite image?

‘Starry Night’ by Van Gough.

Fictional character you’d like to hang with?

Turk and JD from Scrubs. Or Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher. He’s the coolest.

Happiness looks like:

A room full of plants, a heart full of gratitude, and a hand full of dice (4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 20 sided of course).

If not here, then where?

I’VE GOT NOWHERE ELSE TO GO.

What do you think of too often?

Dungeons and Dragons.

And not enough?

Remembering to call my mom.

Couldn’t live without:

Dungeons and Dragons.

Sensing a theme here. If you ruled the world:

Dungeons and Dragons would be a class in school. And universal healthcare, I guess.

Will Golladay, you’ve been [FRAMED].
