[FRAMED] exists to shine light on Framestore’s most fascinating cast of characters: its people. Presented with a probing list of questions and a demandingly short deadline, this feature puts the hopes, dreams, and desktops of our MVPs on the digital wall, for all to see. Welcome to [FRAMED].

What are you guilty of?

Last Friday, my friend prepared a delicious dinner and I said: “The food is SURPRISINGLY good!” Luckily, they understand that English is not my first language.

What was your last brush with danger?

Skating on the slippery icy streets of Montreal in Converse shoes.

Your last brush with greatness?

I survived another winter here.

Your worst character fault?

I can’t stand the slightest noise and become very irritable when I’m fully concentrated.

If you had taken a different path, what would you be doing now?

I’d be a porcelain artist, or a programmer.

You’re on the run from the law, where are you headed?

Upload my mind and perhaps make an infinite number of copies. Hm, I have to rethink the second part.

Who’s your partner-in-crime?

My wife or my infinite copies…

Fantasy cellmate?

Monkey King.

Your greatest achievement?

Be the person I would have liked as a child.

Most valuable skill?

Cooking.

Go on, say something bragging:

I am now the best Chinese-MTL fusion chef within 20 meters of me.

Name your vice/pet peeve?

Call football “soccer”.

The DREAM project would entail:

Giant robots, giant monsters, and a bad story.

Your career highlight to date:

Joining Framestore’s “mysterious” 2d-tech team.

This week I learnt that:

Saying that someone’s food is ‘surprisingly good’ can potentially end a friendship and it will never be forgotten.

What’s your current view?

My plants, a lot of them, with a busy street in front of the window.

Give us a desk tour!

Characters from Gravity Falls with Mar-Kun from Chiba Lotte Marines and Kamen Rider sitting in the back.

What do you need to work, on the daily?

Coffee in the morning and tea during the day.

Framestore is, to you, in three words:

Friends, creativity, diversity.

Best thing about your work environment?

The flexibility!

Framestore is great at:

Life and work balance, employing awesome people and creating mind-blowing work.

Favourite artform?

Film.

Favourite image?

Bob Ross’s happy little trees.

Xuechu Zhang, you’ve been [FRAMED].
